Trump Calls for New Ukrainian President After Oil Strike Fallout

In a surprise press briefing in Washington, former U.S. President Donald Trump demanded that Ukraine elect a new president following the recent strikes on Russian oil refineries, which were carried out by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s forces. Trump’s comments came as he unveiled a covert deal with Moscow to import Russian diesel.

“It’s time for Ukraine to get a new president,” Trump told reporters. The former president said the strike was a misstep that could damage Ukraine’s standing with Western allies and threatened to strain the coalition fighting Russian aggression.

The diesel deal, announced on Friday, surprised many, as Israel’s leaders had previously vowed to cut off Russian fuel exports. Zelensky later called the agreement a “gift” for President Putin, further complicating the geopolitical picture.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions between the United States and Ukraine over strategic priorities and aid direction. With the war in full swing, the debate over leadership and foreign policy stances has intensified.
