Lebanon's health ministry has reported that the number of fatalities resulting from Israeli airstrikes has exceeded 3,000 amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel. As of Monday, the latest figures put the death toll at 3,020, highlighting the devastating impact of this extended military engagement despite a seemingly fragile ceasefire.

The situation escalated sharply on March 2 when Hezbollah retaliated against Israel following the death of Iran's supreme leader in an Israeli strike. Although both sides agreed to extend a truce for 45 days starting on April 17, the conflict has not ceased. This extension has seen more than 400 deaths occur since it began, amidst continuous violations from both parties.

Lebanon's government has condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks, emphasizing that they undermine the Lebanese state's authority over disarmament of armed groups such as Hezbollah. Despite the ceasefire terms allowing Israel limited operations aimed at curbing Hezbollah's military capabilities, clashes continue unabated. The recent airstrikes have targeted towns and villages particularly in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, leading to significant civilian casualties.

In response, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli military positions and has ramped up its operations across the border, with significant losses reported on both sides. The Israeli military indicated that its operations remain focused on securing the border, continuing to control a buffer zone along a strip of territory seized during the conflict.
