On Monday, Israeli troops withdrew from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron after a 10‑day military operation that began on Oct. 23 following a shooting that killed two Israeli soldiers, Xinhua reported.
The operation included evacuation of Palestinian families, demolition of homes, and widespread closures; residents began returning to their homes as forces withdrew. Xinhua cited an Israeli military official who said the withdrawal was made after Defense Minister Israel Katz decided to end the operation Sunday night, despite the army’s request to end it before the last week’s parliamentary election.
The military spokesperson added that during the operation forces seized four weapons, demolished the homes of the two Palestinian attackers, and detained dozens of suspects.
