In brief
DBS Group Holdings said its Q3 net profit fell 5% year‑on‑year to S$2.81 billion due to weaker market trading income. For the first nine months, the bank posted a record S$8.82 billion net profit, helped by robust fee income and wealth‑management‑led treasury sales. The bank’s CEO highlighted ongoing market uncertainty while underscoring a resilient outlook.
Singapore's largest bank, DBS Group Holdings, announced on Thursday that its third‑quarter net profit fell 5 percent year‑on‑year to S$2.81 billion (≈US$2.2 billion), according to Xinhua.
The bank also said total income for the quarter dropped 1 percent from a year earlier, driven by lower market trading income amid weak equity markets.
For the first nine months of 2026, DBS’s net profit rose 2 percent to a record S$8.82 billion, while total income increased 2 percent to a new high of S$17.9 billion.
Fee income and treasury customer sales grew double‑digit percentages to new highs, led by wealth management, helped lift the year‑to‑date results.
DBS chief executive officer Tan Su Shan said:
"As we enter 2027, we will stay nimble to capture opportunities while prudently managing risks. A more supportive interest rate environment and continued structural growth opportunities would benefit earnings, while our strong capital and liquidity positions and healthy general allowance buffers provide resilience against macroeconomic uncertainty."
