The rail network now spans 275 km across eight lines.
Singapore will open three new Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations on Dec. 26, the Ministry of Transport announced on Wednesday during the Singapore Urban Mobility Week.
The new stations — Bedok South on the Thomson‑East Coast Line, Xilin on the Downtown Line, and Sungei Bedok, an interchange linking the two lines — will link two major rail corridors, giving eastern commuters more travel options and shorter journey times, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance Jeffrey Siow said.
Siow also highlighted future network enhancements, noting that the Jurong Region Line is expected to open in mid‑2028 and the Cross Island Line is slated for completion in the 2030s.
According to the minister, Singapore’s urban rail system now spans 275 km across eight lines, a growth that is expected to continue as part of the government’s long‑term mobility strategy.
