The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock opened a four‑day agriculture and livestock exhibition in Kabul on Nov. 5. The event is targeted at farmers and livestock breeders, seeks to improve market access, reduce dependence on imports and attract investors, and follows a mining exhibition that opened a week earlier.

Afghanistan opened a four‑day agriculture and livestock exhibition in Kabul on Wednesday, a move the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said was aimed at empowering farmers and livestock breeders.

The ministry’s statement, released by Xinhua, described the event as a platform to showcase sector achievements, identify existing capacities and forge stronger links among investors, traders, farmers and livestock producers.

Minister Mawlawi Ataullah Omari highlighted Afghanistan’s natural advantages—abundant water resources, fertile soil, favorable climate and a large human workforce—as reasons the expo should help increase domestic production and reduce import dependence.

Xinhua also noted that the exhibition is part of a series of trade initiatives in Kabul, following the opening a week earlier of the country’s first specialized mining exhibition which featured more than 140 booths showcasing precious and semi‑precious stones such as emeralds, rubies and lapis lazuli.
