In brief
KT G’s third‑quarter net profit fell to 104.1 billion won – a 75.1% decline from the same period last year – after the firm faced significant foreign‑exchange losses. Operating profit and sales rose, driven by stronger overseas tobacco sales and growth in its next‑generation product line. The company plans to expand overseas sales to 70% of business by 2030 and has raised full‑year earnings guidance amid solid performance in its tobacco and next‑generation segments.
KT G Corp. said its third‑quarter net profit slid 75.1 percent to 104.1 billion won (US$77.5 million) as foreign‑exchange losses took a hit, according to a regulatory filing released on Thursday.
The result represents a sharp fall from 418.7 billion won in the same quarter a year earlier, with foreign‑exchange translation losses weighing on the net bottom line amid the won’s appreciation against the dollar, Yonhap reported.
A company spokesperson told the outlet that “foreign‑exchange translation losses weighed on the quarterly bottom line amid the won’s appreciation against the dollar.”
Operating profit rose 13.9 percent to 530.1 billion won from 465.3 billion won, while net sales climbed 4.3 percent to 1.9 trillion won from 1.83 trillion won, the filing showed.
KT G attributed the operating improvement to higher overseas tobacco sales and better profitability in its next‑generation products (NGP) business, which includes heat‑not‑burn products and nicotine pouches.
The firm reiterated its plan to raise the share of overseas tobacco sales to 70 percent by 2030, up from about 50 percent today, by boosting volumes and average selling prices.
KT G has overseas manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia and Kazakhstan and aims to grow its nicotine‑pouch business into 70 markets, including the United States, by 2030. It raised its full‑year earnings guidance, now expecting operating profit of 1.5 trillion won on revenue of 7 trillion won.
