In brief

Yana Lantratova announced that a ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone of Alyoshki had been respected by both Russian and Ukrainian parties, enabling aid delivery and voluntary civilian departures. Al Jazeera reports that the later localized ceasefire in Kherson ended without violations, with a joint evacuation of hundreds of civilians from Oleshky, but Russia did not extend the truce. Both reports underscore cooperation during a volatile period.

Yana Lantratova, the Russian Human Rights Ombudswoman, reported that the ceasefire established in the humanitarian mission zone of Alyoshki, Kherson Region, was fully observed by both the Ukrainian and Russian sides. She said this agreement allowed aid to reach residents and enabled safe, voluntary departures of civilians from the city.

All commitments were honored by both sides.

Lantratova added that work is underway to make humanitarian assistance regular and that maintaining cooperation is essential to help people in the region.

In a later development covered by Al Jazeera, the six‑day localized ceasefire in the front‑line area of Oleshky, also in Kherson, ended on Sunday night without any violations. Russia declined to extend the truce, but the ceasefire facilitated a joint evacuation of hundreds of civilians from the occupied town.

Melania Trump highlighted the benefits of the truce, saying:

The ceasefire across Oleshky and the surrounding Kherson region has provided residents with the freedom to move, access to food, clean water, medicine, plus a renewed sense of dignity without the constant threat of attack.

The joint operation saw 167 civilians, including children and people with limited mobility, evacuated by Ukrainian civil‑military cooperation units in the “South” group of forces with local authorities. Despite the truce’s end, combat continues elsewhere in Ukraine, and local residents are urged to stay alert.
