In brief
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) launched a native seed sowing campaign in Jubail, Eastern Region, on Nov. 2, 2026. The initiative marks the third season of NCVC’s rehabilitation program and dovetails with the 2026 National Greening Season, aiming to expand vegetation cover, restore degraded rangelands and promote environmental sustainability across the Kingdom.
On Sunday, Nov. 2, 2026, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) launched a campaign to sow native wild and rangeland plant seeds in Jubail, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The campaign forms part of the third season of NCVC’s broader rehabilitation program, which focuses on restoring degraded natural grazing lands through seeding and rainwater harvesting, the agency reported.
By introducing locally adapted seed mixes, the NCVC aims to expand vegetation cover, rehabilitate rangelands and promote environmental sustainability, aligning with national targets for conserving natural resources during the 2026 National Greening Season.
The agency noted that seeding sites are selected to ensure soil-vegetation suitability, preserve plant genetic resources, and help plants adapt to varying climatic conditions across Saudi Arabia’s vegetation zones.
NCVC will continue to develop, protect, and monitor vegetation sites, overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks across the Kingdom as part of wider ecosystem restoration efforts, the Saudi Press Agency added.
