Trump declares Ukraine–Russia energy ceasefire.

Former U.S. president Donald Trump announced that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a short‑term pause in attacks on energy infrastructure, calling it an "energy ceasefire" that is effective immediately.

The statement came as Kyiv and Moscow have yet to comment, and the White House has not released further details. The BBC has requested more information from the White House.

Trump has repeatedly urged Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian oil facilities—critically important for reducing Moscow’s war‑financing—and said the ceasefire would help Ukraine release diesel to the U.S. and global markets.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this week said he would halt attacks if Russia ceased targeting Ukrainian energy sites, amid a surge of assaults ahead of winter.
