A plane arriving from Israel was inspected at Sofia airport after an e‑mail bomb threat reached the authorities, according to Xinhua. Counter‑terrorism units were checking the aircraft for possible explosives, while the Interior Ministry’s action secretary, Lyubomir Nikolov, confirmed the security check and said no incidents were reported.
In the same day, BTA reported that Sofia Airport carried out inspections on two aircraft after receiving bomb threats. Transport Minister Georgi Peev confirmed that the planes had not been diverted and that protocols were followed. The inspections found no explosive devices on either aircraft, one from Bergamo and the other from Dublin.
Nikolov said efforts were underway to identify the sender of the bomb threat. He noted that “The worrying thing is that some airlines have now also started to be targeted, which means that aircraft have to be diverted and the relevant measures taken.”
Authorities emphasized their readiness and adherence to standard procedures, adding that there was no evidence of any specific terrorist intentions or actions. The aircraft landed safely and the situation was deemed under control by the Ministry of Interior and Transport.
