On Monday, a Wizz Air passenger flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest after a bomb threat, and Hungarian Gripen fighter jets were scrambled to escort the aircraft, Xinhua reported, citing Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin‑Szendi.

The incident was confirmed by Hungary's Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin‑Szendi, who said the jets were deployed to ensure the plane's safety.

The diversion occurred on the flight's Tuesday night leg from London Heathrow to Sofia, but the aircraft landed safely in Budapest and was cleared for departure.

Xinhua is the sole source reporting that both the bomb threat and the escort of the plane were confirmed.
