The deal, announced on November 3 2026, is expected to bring economic benefits to local businesses, enhance the country’s logistics capabilities and support downstream industry growth. Both outlets agree that the partnership will focus on stringent quality, cleanliness and biosecurity standards in line with customer and international regulations.
Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI) and Muara Port Company (MPC) signed new agreements on 3 November 2026, deepening their long‑standing partnership to improve logistics services and terminal operations for urea exports, according to Xinhua.
Both parties aim to streamline the export process, as Xinhua noted that most of BFI’s granular urea shipments are dispatched through Muara Port, a deep‑water facility that already handles high export volumes.
Pelita Brunei added that the expanded agreements should extend economic benefits to local companies, raise the country’s logistics sector capacity and support downstream industrial development.
The Borneo Bulletin reported that MPC will continue to provide an integrated logistics solution for BFI’s granular urea, encompassing containerised land transport and other support services, and that the partnership will adhere to stringent quality, cleanliness and biosecurity standards required by customers and importing authorities.
Both outlets agree that compliance with these standards at every stage of the logistics chain remains a key focus of BFI’s international shipments, positioning the partnership as a critical component of Brunei’s broader industrial strategy.
