President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on Monday that Russia is preparing a new large‑scale attack aimed at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and logistics, placing the defense systems under significant strain as the U.S. midterm elections dominate global attention.
Zelenskyy said the international community must send Russia clear signals: "We must not play games with Russia’s oil and gas revenues. We must put so much pressure on Russia that it has no alternative but to end this war," he said, adding that Ukraine’s current strike campaign is already having a tangible impact on its intended targets.
He described Russia’s new tactic, which now includes attacks on power generation facilities as well as the energy grids and distribution networks that keep the country running.
The president added that Ukraine is justified in responding to any Russian assault and that its forces are prepared for a counter‑strike against the upcoming attack.
A Ukrainian presidential statement confirmed that Ukrainian intelligence had gathered evidence that Russia is planning a massive attack, primarily targeting the energy and logistics sectors.
A Pravda report cited that Zelenskyy had referred to intelligence findings to warn that Russia is ready to launch a new large‑scale offensive.
