In brief

The Russian Defence Ministry reported a precision strike on Ukrainian energy assets tied to its military‑industrial base. Targets included thermal power plants, substations in several regions, Odessa port, and two cargo ships. Ukrainian authorities confirmed outages of power, heating, and public transport in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Dnipro, with 130 settlements losing electricity in Zhytomyr.

Russia’s Defence Ministry announced that it launched an overnight strike on Ukrainian energy facilities that supply electricity to military‑industrial enterprises.

The attack was carried out with precision‑guided weapons and attack drones, the ministry said, targeting four thermal power plants and several power substations in the Vinnytsia, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov regions.

Port infrastructure in Odessa and two bulk carriers carrying military and dual‑use cargo in the Black Sea were also struck, according to the ministry’s statement.

Ukrainian local authorities reported that the strikes disrupted power supplies across several regions. In the Zhytomyr region, about 130 settlements lost electricity. Kharkiv saw the suspension of heating and public electronic transport, while Kyiv and Dnipro also experienced outages.

The Deputy Defence Minister cited the attack as a targeted operation against installations that provide power to the Ukrainian armed forces’ industrial base, noting that the precision nature of the weapons reduced collateral damage.

As of now, independent verification of the extent of the infrastructure damage has not been provided, and Ukrainian officials have not released detailed casualty figures or engineering assessments of the destroyed facilities.
