A man responsible for a horrific car attack that resulted in the deaths of dozens in southern China has been executed, according to state media reports. Fan Weiqiu, aged 62, was sentenced to death after he drove his car into a group of people exercising outside a stadium in Zhuhai, killing at least 35 individuals and injuring many more on November 11. This incident is deemed one of the most devastating attacks on Chinese soil in the past decade.

The court revealed that Fan's actions stemmed from his "dissatisfaction" regarding the division of his property post-divorce. Following a swift judicial process, he was sentenced to death less than a month after the attack. The court described his behavior as "extremely vile," stating that the methods he employed during the incident were "particularly cruel."

This tragic event forms part of a larger pattern, as 2024 has already seen 19 attacks targeting innocent bystanders across China, with two incidents occurring within a week of the Zhuhai tragedy.
