A 42-year-old woman from Peru, referred to by her initials N.S., has been accused of attempting to smuggle a staggering $70,000 worth of cocaine and ecstasy into Bali by hiding the narcotics in her underwear and a sex toy. Customs officials detained her after noticing her suspicious behavior.

Radiant, the head of Bali's narcotics unit, informed the media that the drugs consisted of six packages of cocaine wrapped in duct tape and concealed within a green bra, along with three packages in black underwear. A sex toy, which contained drugs, was reportedly inserted into her body.

According to authorities, N.S. had been promised $19,000 for her role in smuggling the drugs into Bali, a deal allegedly arranged with someone she encountered on the dark web in April. She traveled from Barcelona, Spain, with a layover in Doha, arriving at the Indonesian island's international airport on August 12.

Following her apprehension, police were alerted by customs officials, leading to her arrest. Indonesia has stringent drug laws, and if found guilty, N.S. could potentially face the death penalty. Though the country has previously carried out executions for drug offenses, it has placed a temporary moratorium on death sentences since 2017.

This incident follows a recent case where three British citizens narrowly avoided the death penalty after being convicted of smuggling cocaine disguised as a popular dessert mix into Indonesia.
