WILMINGTON, Del. — William Stevenson, the first husband of former first lady Jill Biden, has been charged with killing his wife at their home in Wilmington, Delaware. Authorities announced the charges on Tuesday, revealing that Stevenson, 77, is accused of murdering Linda Stevenson, 64, on December 28, following a domestic dispute call. Police discovered Linda unresponsive in the living room, and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
Stevenson, who was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, remains incarcerated after failing to post bail set at $500,000. Following his arrest on Monday, he was indicted by a grand jury after an extensive investigation by the Delaware Department of Justice.
While Stevenson's lawyer status remains unclear, he is recognized for having founded the popular music venue, the Stone Balloon, in Newark during the 1970s. In a previous interview, he described his divorce from Jill Biden as contentious, calling her “bitter” and “nasty.” Jill Biden, who married current U.S. President Joe Biden in 1977, has opted not to comment on the ongoing developments. Linda Stevenson was noted as a family-oriented individual and Philadelphia Eagles fan, according to her obituary.}
