Israeli Troops Poised to Break West Bank Siege in Qusra Village
The Israeli army has announced the deployment of additional troops to the West Bank after settlers in Qusra, a village south of Nablus, besieged two Palestinian families and cut off their water and electricity supplies.
The families—Abu Ridi and Hassan—reside on the outskirts of the village. They appealed for help following the cut‑off of utilities, which left them without food and essential services.
Israeli forces attempted to remove the settlers from the area earlier this week, but a clash erupted. Soldiers used tear gas and stun grenades to break a barricade of settlers and their vehicles, and a bulldozer was later seen in the footage.
The UN has reported that 76 Palestinians, including 18 children, have been killed in the West Bank this year, partly due to settler violence and military operations. More than 6,390 Palestinians have been displaced from 127 communities since January 2023, with about 3,800 displaced this year alone. These figures highlight the growing human cost of the conflict.
The incident in Qusra reflects a broader pattern of settler expansion—despite international law declaring such settlements illegal—and the ongoing struggle between Israeli forces and Palestinian communities for security and rights.
