A wave of Russian drone strikes on the Kyiv region during the night has resulted in at least 27 deaths and dozens of injuries, the governor of the region confirmed. 381 civilians were evacuated from the Bucha district after the attack, while search and rescue teams are assessing damaged buildings. Praised as a second victim, a 14‑year‑old was also killed in a separate incident in Boryspil. President Zelensky urged international partners for aid and sanctions, adding that similar overnight attacks were reported in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine’s military claimed to have shot down 233 Russian UAVs during the period.

At least 27 dead after overnight drone strikes near Kyiv

Twenty‑seven people have been killed in a late night drone strike on the Kyiv region, its governor announced.

Tymur Tkachenko said a further 42 people, including four children, were injured in the Russian attack on the Bucha district, and 381 civilians were evacuated.

Search and rescue teams were on the scene early Saturday, inspecting damaged buildings for survivors.

Tkachenko later added that a 14‑year‑old was killed in another attack in the Boryspil district, calling it “yet another victim of Russian terror.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of the victims and noted that more than 300 emergency responders had been deployed to the strike area.

Zelensky also reported further overnight strikes in the regions of Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia.

“Ukraine cannot stand alone in protecting against such strikes, and I thank everyone who helps with additional support packages and sanctions against Russia,” he wrote on Telegram.

Sources say the Ukrainian army shot down 233 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight.

Russia and Ukraine have intensified their offensive in recent months, with Kyiv focusing on Russian economic targets.

In the last 24 hours, Moscow reported strikes on the Belgorod and Rostov regions; Rostov Governor Yuri Slusar said seven people were injured in that attack.
