German police have arrested a Lebanese national on suspicion of being a member of Hamas and planning attacks in Europe.
The man, named as Mohammad S, was stopped at Berlin's Brandenburg Airport after arriving from Beirut on Friday evening.
Federal prosecutors stated that in August 2025 he assisted in procuring 300 rounds of ammunition and was part of an alleged plot to target Jewish and Israeli institutions.
He is set to appear before a federal judge who will decide on his pretrial detention.
Hamas, which previously controlled Gaza but has faced severe setbacks due to Israeli military actions, is deemed a terrorist organization by the US, UK, Israel, and numerous other nations.
The group launched significant attacks on Israel in October 2023, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 people and over 250 hostages taken.
Following these events, it's reported that over 70,000 Palestinians have lost their lives due to Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Authorities in Germany claim that Mohammad S colluded with Abed Al G, one of three alleged Hamas members arrested last October for planned attacks on Jewish and Israeli institutions.
These three were reportedly apprehended during a weapons handover meeting in Berlin, with two being German nationals and one from Lebanon.
In the same period, police conducted searches in Leipzig and Oberhausen, as per reports from Der Spiegel.
Additionally, in November, German officials detained another alleged Hamas member—also a Lebanese national—close to the border with the Czech Republic.
