According to the federal prosecutor's office in Germany, Mohamed began adhering to the ideology of IS around April 2024. He allegedly engaged in conversations with a young suspect in Austria regarding plans for the violent act, which was interrupted following a tip-off by the CIA about a potential mass-casualty event. Authorities believe the main suspect, identified as Beran A, had previously contemplated an attack in Dubai.

Investigators allege that Mohamed assisted Beran A by translating bomb-making documents from Arabic and establishing contact with IS affiliates online. Furthermore, he is also accused of providing text for an allegiance oath for Beran A to align himself with IS.
