German police have arrested a Lebanese national on suspicion of being a member of Hamas and planning attacks in Europe. The man, named as 'Mohammad S', was stopped at Berlin's Brandenburg Airport after arriving from Beirut on Friday evening. Federal prosecutors stated that in August 2025 he was involved in procuring 300 rounds of ammunition and participated in an alleged plot to target Jewish and Israeli institutions. He is set to appear before a federal judge for pretrial detention.

Hamas, which ruled Gaza but has faced significant setbacks from Israeli operations, is classified as a terrorist group by various countries, including the US and UK. The group was responsible for the attacks on Israel in October 2023 that resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities. Since then, the Gaza health ministry reports that over 70,000 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military actions.

According to German authorities, 'Mohammad S' worked with 'Abed Al G', another individual linked to Hamas who was arrested last October while allegedly planning attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets. This collaboration included three other suspects, who were apprehended during a meeting concerning a weapons exchange in Berlin. Following this, police also executed searches across Leipzig and Oberhausen. Furthermore, another suspected Hamas member was arrested in November near the Czech Republic border.
