In brief
In Q3 2026 Samsung Electronics shipped 57.8 million smartphones, topping Apple’s 56.5 million, and held a 22.7 percent share of global shipments. The company’s top spot was sustained by strong sales of its Galaxy A and Galaxy Z Fold 8 lines, even as worldwide smartphone shipments fell 20 percent.
Samsung Electronics Co. remained the world’s largest smartphone vendor in the July–September quarter, shipping 57.8 million units—a 5 percent year‑on‑year drop—according to data compiled by industry tracker Omdia in a report released Monday by Korean outlet Yonhap.
The firm’s 22.7 percent share of global smartphone shipments beat Apple, which held its 22.2 percent share with 56.5 million units shipped—unchanged from last year.
Samsung’s performance was helped by robust sales of its entry‑level Galaxy A series and the premium Galaxy Z Fold 8, launched earlier in August, both of which bolstered its resilience amid a 20 percent plunge in worldwide smartphone shipments during the same period.
Omdia noted the company’s diverse product lineup addressed shifting market demand, keeping Samsung’s shipments ahead of rivals even as the overall market contracted.
