In brief
Australian dairy firm Bulla and probiotic startup Biome Australia are set to attend the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai from Nov. 5‑10, seeking long‑term business ties. Bulla will present ice‑cream lines for food‑service and new cones, while Biome prepares its debut, leveraging the expo to better understand Chinese consumer preferences.
Australian dairy producer Bulla and probiotic firm Biome Australia announced plans to return to Shanghai’s ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) from Nov. 5‑10 to pursue long‑term partnerships, Xinhua reported.
“It’s progressing very well,” said Sam Zhang, Bulla’s international‑business lead, about the company’s partnership with Chinese grocery platform Dingdong Fresh that began at last year’s CIIE.
“We’re ready for it,” Zhang said, adding that the expo has been a key venue for connecting with consumers and business partners.
Zhang noted that Bulla has attended the expo every year since 2019, with 2024 and 2025 editions proving especially memorable. Xinhua reports that Bulla secured agreements with Chinese customers in both years, including a direct‑sourcing deal with Dingdong Fresh in 2025. The company’s exports to China exceeded 10 million Australian dollars (about 7 million U.S. dollars) in the financial year ended June 30, 2026.
At this year’s event, Bulla plans to showcase ice‑cream products for food‑service businesses and new ice‑cream cones, offering samples to visitors. The dairy firm has adjusted packaging and product information in response to rising health awareness among Chinese consumers and has been developing retailer‑specific products for Sam’s Club in China over several years.
Meanwhile, Biome Australia, known for its probiotic offerings, is preparing for its first appearance at the CIIE, aiming to use the platform to learn more about Chinese consumer preferences and to forge lasting business collaborations.
Both companies view the expo as a vital platform for building distribution agreements, learning market trends, and fostering sustainable trade ties with China.
