Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on November 1, 2026 that it has launched an updated Artificial Intelligence strategy aimed at reinforcing its status as a global leader in AI‑powered mobility.
The new plan covers 41 areas across RTA’s departments, includes 40 AI products and focuses on 11 business areas in the initial rollout. Eleven of those products have already been completed, alongside four foundational projects that set the stage for the broader initiative.
Over a two‑and‑a‑half‑year implementation period the strategy seeks to generate more than AED300 million in annual added value and to transition 50 percent of RTA’s operations and services to an Agentic AI ecosystem, allowing for smarter, faster, and more flexible service delivery.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director‑General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, said the launch aligns with the directives of Dubai’s leadership to accelerate AI adoption across government sectors and to develop human‑centred services that promote happiness and wellbeing.
"The strategy marks an advanced stage in RTA’s digital transformation journey, paving the way for a fundamental shift from AI applications that support operations to intelligent systems capable of analysing data, predicting outcomes, supporting decision‑making and delivering end‑to‑end services,"
Key public‑sector initiatives announced include an AI‑powered chatbot, an electronic Network Operations Centre (e‑NOC) system, and a bus network planner designed to enhance customer experience, improve traffic flow, and boost operational efficiency.
