On Friday evening, former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak returned to Kajang Prison after a medical examination, Xinhua reported.
Earlier that day, Najib paid the 50‑million‑ringgit fine linked to the SRC International Sdn Bhd corruption case, fulfilling a condition of his conditional pardon, the agency said.
The Attorney General's Chambers said the implementation of the house arrest order had been temporarily deferred pending further legal clarification, keeping Najib at his existing detention facility.
Reuters reported that the Attorney General had postponed Najib's transfer to house arrest to review his royal pardon.
StraitsTimes added that the transfer had been halted pending a legal review of the pardon and court order.
Najib has been imprisoned since August 2022 for abuse of power related to SRC International, a former unit of the state investment fund 1MDB, and his 12‑year sentence was reduced to six years earlier this year.
