In brief

Explosions were reported in four southern Iranian counties, with state TV unclear whether they were due to enemy attack or Iranian forces. Earlier reports highlight two blasts on Qeshm Island and suggest the shots may have been linked to maritime traffic control. U.S. involvement is hinted at, with reports of minor strikes targeting the island and air defense systems.

Several explosions were heard Saturday night in Iran's southern counties of Qeshm, Sirik, Jask and Bandar Abbas, according to state‑run IRIB TV, as reported by Xinhua on Nov. 7, 2026.

IRIB said it was not yet clear whether the blasts were the result of an enemy attack or of Iranian armed forces firing at vessels that were violating rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

An earlier report from the official news agency IRNA noted two explosions on Qeshm Island, citing its correspondent as saying the blasts occurred inside the island, while the semi‑official Tasnim news agency quoted an informed source who said the sounds were linked to Iranian management of maritime traffic and that no projectile struck the island.

The U.S. Army reportedly carried out “minor” attacks on Qeshm early Saturday, and Tasnim reported that two missiles struck the island, though it did not give damage details. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that his forces had launched new strikes targeting Iran’s air‑defense systems, describing the action as “minor.”
