U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg confirmed via his official Twitter account that all nine people aboard a private Gulfstream G150 jet that crashed into a South Florida neighborhood on Saturday night have been killed.
The 12‑engine jet, which had six flight hours on its record, was en route from a Miami‑based charter company to a private destination when it suffered a sudden loss of control and slammed into a residential area near Palm Beach. The pilot, who held 14,000 flight hours, was among the nine fatalities.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene within minutes, but were unable to locate any survivors. A preliminary casualty report issued by the Florida Department of State Police and the Florida Bureau of Investigation confirmed that all aboard were deceased.
Investigators are working to determine the cause, with meteorological factors and pilot error being the leading possibilities under evaluation. The Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration are coordinating with local law‑enforcement to collect wreckage evidence and interview witnesses.
A determination of the cause is expected once the full accident investigation is complete, underscoring the importance of air‑traffic and safety oversight in the region.
