Trump Plans New ‘Camp David’ at Florida Golf Club

Donald Trump said on Wednesday that his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach might become the nation’s next presidential stop. He called the golf resort a “very safe” location for the president and his advisers.

According to a letter from the club’s attorney, presidents and visiting heads of state would receive free membership and the club would bear all construction costs as a gift to Americans. The proposal would also allow future presidents to use the grounds at no cost to the federal government.

The idea echoes former President Barack Obama’s use of Camp David for intergovernmental meetings, but Trump wants a more luxurious, privately owned setting. He highlighted the proximity to the airport and absence of surrounding “high‑building” security threats as key reasons for the choice.

The Trump International Golf Club is already a frequent destination for Trump’s allies and supporters during his Florida weekends. The facility features 27 holes, a clubhouse, fine dining and a “lively social scene.”

Trump’s move follows a series of projects aimed at rebranding the White House and federal infrastructure, including a planned White House ballroom and a massive triumphal arch in Washington. Officials have yet to confirm whether the golf club will meet Secret Service security standards.

While the Secretary of the White House has not yet commented on security approvals, the plan illustrates Trump’s enduring effort to shape presidential spaces. Whether the Florida club will become the next Camp David remains under the radar of the Secret Service and the public.
