The recent bus crash in South Africa has resulted in the tragic death of 42 Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals. The incident occurred on Sunday night as the bus was traversing a mountainous section of the N1 highway in Limpopo province.

Authorities revealed that the bus veered off the road and plunged down an embankment, causing a significant loss of life that included seven children. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his condolences, stating that this catastrophe is not only a national tragedy but impacts the broader region, particularly the victims' home countries of Zimbabwe and Malawi.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Reports indicate that the bus was traveling from the city of Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape region when it crashed. Although the bus's total capacity is not confirmed, officials have reported 49 injuries among the surviving passengers.

Authorities, including Transport Minister Barbara Creecy, are expected to visit the crash site and meet with the injured survivors to offer support during this difficult time.
