HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) — The rapper Offset, a former member of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, was shot Monday outside a Florida casino and is in stable condition, according to a spokesperson. Offset, who was once married to Cardi B, was being treated at a hospital, though his exact condition remained unclear.

More than three years ago, Offset's cousin Takeoff, another Migos member, was shot and killed at a Houston bowling alley. The Seminole Police Department in Florida stated that one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries Monday night at the valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, but did not identify the victim.

Two people were detained by the police for further investigation, but officials assured that the site was secure and posed no threat to the public.

Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was part of the Grammy Award-nominated Migos, which rose to fame with its rapid-fire triplet flow and hits like Versace. The group received Grammy nominations for their 2018 album Culture. Offset and Cardi B secretly wed in September 2017 and have three children together; however, they filed for divorce in 2024.

In light of the recent incident, Quavo, the third member of Migos, has sought to transform the tragedy surrounding Takeoff's death into action, holding a summit against gun violence in 2024. Takeoff was an innocent bystander during his shooting, which adds to the troubling trend of violence affecting prominent figures in the hip-hop community.
