Central Nepal faces sudden flooding disaster.
A flash flood triggered by an upstream landslide has swept away nearly two dozen houses, four important bridges and damaged a hydropower project along the Budhi Gandaki River in the Gorkha district.
The Nepalese army reported rescuing 49 people from the flood‑affected areas, but district officials confirmed that five people are still missing.
The flood’s origin is traced to a landslide upstream that unleashed a torrent of water into the river, overwhelming local infrastructure.
This catastrophe follows a series of severe floods and landslides two months ago that hit Nepali border towns with Tibet, destroying thousands of homes, crippling energy facilities and leaving many dead or unaccounted for.
