Death and Loss
Officials from Nepal’s disaster agency say the floods have killed more than 1,000 people and left nearly 4,000 missing. The toll has risen sharply since the wall‑tremoring torrent broke the day before yesterday.
A Village in Ruins
The BBC team, led by South Asia correspondent Azadeh Moshiri, travelled to Betrawati District to witness the devastation. Villagers who dared return found their homes washed away, with entire streets replaced by a thick layer of mud and silt.
Personal Stories of Suffering
A local man, still waiting for his wife’s body to be recovered by rescue crews, spoke about the relentless grief and the uncertainty that surrounds the search for survivors.
