At least eight people were killed and 30 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a dumper truck near the Havelian Interchange in Abbottabad district, northwestern Pakistan, as reported by Xinhua on Friday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the bus was traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi when the collision occurred.

Seven ambulances and a rescue vehicle were dispatched to the site, evacuating passengers and providing emergency aid.

All 30 injured, including five children and six women, were taken to Ayub Medical Complex for treatment.

Medics cautioned that the death toll might rise with four of the injured passengers in critical condition.

The bodies of the eight deceased, reportedly from Gilgit, were transported to different hospitals in the area.

Local police preliminarily blamed a tire burst on the bus as the cause of the driver to lose control.
