A fatalistic stabbing in Dandenong on Friday left three people hospitalised, including a 28‑year‑old woman with life‑threatening wounds. Police say the victims all know each other and detectives from the family‑violence unit have started a probe. The nearby primary school was briefly secured while emergency services responded.
Three people were hospitalised after a stabbing near a primary school in Dandenong, a suburb 29 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, on Friday, according to Xinhua.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m., when emergency services were called to an area in Dandenong where three individuals were found with stab wounds. A 28‑year‑old woman was taken to hospital with life‑threatening injuries, while a 26‑year‑old man and a 35‑year‑old man were admitted with serious, but not life‑threatening, wounds.
Police stated that the three victims are believed to know each other and that they are not searching for any other persons in connection with the incident. Detectives from the family‑violence unit have already commenced an investigation.
A nearby primary school was briefly put into lockdown as emergency responders arrived, acting Inspector Rebecca Hall told reporters at the scene.
"My understanding is that the children were inside the school at the time and were prevented from coming to the street and so did not witness anything,"she said.
Police confirmed that the lockdown was short‑lived and that the children did not witness the event. The investigation remains underway.
