A member of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force was dismissed on Friday after drug tests taken at Kaitaichi Camp in Hiroshima Prefecture returned positive for cannabis and other illegal drugs, Xinhua reported. The serviceman, who was stationed at the camp, collapsed while being questioned by police on Aug. 29 and was taken to a hospital where the negative test result came back post‑mortem.

Local police arrested the serviceman in September on a suspicion of violating drug‑control laws, according to the report.

Only Xinhua provided the coverage of the incident; no other outlets have reported on the dismissal.
