Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology announced on November 1, 2026 that the kingdom will experience thunderstorms with rain, cold gusts, and fog, with conditions predicted for Jazan, Asir, Al‑Baha, Mecca, Medina, Hail, and the Northern Border.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the forecast includes surface winds travelling from the northwestern Red Sea to the north with speeds between 12 and 35 km per hour, and similar winds from the northwest to west in the central region. Winds to the south and southeast reach 12‑32 km per hour, while the Gulf of Arabia experiences southeast winds of 10‑28 km per hour, which can increase beyond 50 km per hour in the northern sector.
Wave heights along the Red Sea are expected to rise from one‑half meter to one‑and‑a‑half meters, producing light to moderate sea states, while the Gulf of Arabia will see waves from one‑half meter to over two meters, also in light conditions.
In addition, the report noted that the coastal areas fronting the Gulf would encounter easterly to southeast winds with wave heights up to two meters.
Heathen underscored that the Saudi Press Agency’s account of wind speeds reaching 35 km per hour and wave heights up to 1.5 m is a detail reported solely by that outlet and not corroborated by other available sources.
