Saudi Civil Defense warned that a potential danger had occurred in Jizan city, southwestern Saudi Arabia, before dropping the alert within several minutes on Saturday. The agency said the brief warning was issued to keep residents safe amid a broader security environment.
The move came as Houthi missile and drone attacks continue to target Saudi territory, the agency noted, citing an ongoing military escalation that restarted in July after a brief lull triggered by a UN‑brokered truce in 2022.
In a post taken from the X social media platform, the civil defense urged people to follow official instructions and to avoid gathering and filming. The wording appeared in a short statement released by the agency.
The agency later confirmed that the danger had passed, stating that the alert had been retracted after only a few minutes. No additional incidents were reported in the immediate aftermath.
