A Russian Human Rights Commissioner declared that the humanitarian mission in Oleshky, a town in Ukraine’s Kherson region, had been finished. Yana Lantratova announced the completion of the mission in a brief statement released by Xinhua on October 31.
The announcement confirmed that the mission took place in Oleshky and that Russian officials had carried it out as part of their ongoing assistance efforts amid the conflict.
In an earlier report, the BBC had noted that a few foreign journalists had been invited to witness the evacuation of the town, which Moscow presented as a humanitarian mission. The earlier coverage did not include a completion notice.
Only Xinhua reported the mission’s conclusion; no other outlet at this time has confirmed the finalization of the operation. No additional details about assistance provided or the duration of the mission have been disclosed.
