In brief
Xinhua cites local and medical sources to confirm four Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 28. The strikes hit a Hamas‑run checkpoint in Rafah and a civilian area in Khan Younis, raising the death toll to 1,568 since the ceasefire.
At least four Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to Xinhua, which cited local and medical sources.
A drone fired a missile at a checkpoint operated by the Hamas‑run Crossings and Borders Authority in the Mawasi area of Rafah, in southern Gaza, killing three people and wounding several others, some seriously.
Local reports said the victims worked for Gaza’s agriculture, economy and general petroleum and gas authorities, implying the strike targeted a government‑run facility.
Separately, an Israeli airstrike targeted a group of people in the Al‑Bayouk neighbourhood of central Khan Younis, killing one Palestinian, medical sources told Xinhua.
No immediate comment came from the Israeli military following the reports.
In its daily report, Gaza’s health authorities added the five new deaths to a total of 1,568 Palestinians killed since the October 2025 ceasefire, with 5,649 wounded. The cumulative toll since the October 7, 2023 outbreak of the conflict has reached 74,564 deaths and 175,770 wounded, the authorities said.
