Forced to flee amid the chaos, Noura and Mohamed struggled for basic necessities like food and medicine. Tragically, seven months into the pregnancy, Noura experienced a severe hemorrhage, leading to a miscarriage in which one twin was stillborn, and the other died hours later due to a lack of medical resources. Compounding their grief, they lost their two stored embryos when the Al-Basma Fertility Centre, where they had preserved their hope, was shelled in December 2023.
Dr. Baha Ghalayini, director of the fertility center, emotionally detailed the loss of nearly 4,000 embryos and over 1,000 samples of sperm and eggs.
