In brief

Egypt’s Central Bank announced that net international reserves topped $57.5 billion at the end of October, a record increase. The rise reflects strong inflows from remittances, tourism, exports and foreign investment, with remittances alone reaching $33.9 billion in the first eight months of the year. Other outlets corroborated the milestone, noting the jump from $57.348 billion in September to $57.500 billion in October.

Egypt’s net international reserves (NIRs) topped a record $57.5 billion at the end of October, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Thursday, according to a statement released by the newsroom of the Emirates News Agency (WAM). The figure represents a rise of $151.6 million from September’s $57.348 billion, with the reserves standing at $57.4998 billion at the month’s close.

The latest jump brings Egypt’s cumulative growth in foreign reserves to roughly $6.05 billion since December 2025, when the holdings were about $51.45 billion, the CBE data show. The steady build-up follows consistent inflows of foreign currency,” a WAM reporter noted.

WAM cited the continuation of foreign‑currency inflows from several sectors—remittances from Egyptians abroad, tourism receipts, export earnings and foreign investment—as the main drivers of the surge. In the financial year 2025/26, inflows surpassed $47.3 billion, while remittances over the first eight months of 2026 hit $33.9 billion.

Other outlets echoed the milestone. The Arabic daily Ahram reported that the NIRs rose to a record $57.5 billion at the end of October, while a Reuters‑sourced feed on TradingView listed the same figure and the $151.6 million increase from September.

These parallel accounts highlight the robustness of Egypt’s reserve accumulation amid a period of sustained external earnings.
