Brunei’s Tourism Development Department said Tuesday it hopes to welcome ten more international cruise ship calls before the end of 2026, following the recent arrival of the MV Dream. The department’s announcement came as the country prepares for Visit Brunei Year 2027, a campaign aimed at increasing international visitation.
According to Xinhua, the goal is part of a plan to strengthen Brunei’s position in the regional cruise tourism sector and support broader tourism development initiatives. The department said it expects that additional cruise arrivals will help stimulate local economic participation and diversify the tourism market.
The MV Dream’s recent visit was seen as a positive step toward that end, illustrating Brunei’s growing appeal to the cruise industry. With the 2026 target in place, officials anticipate a steady stream of international ships arriving in the coming months, aligning with the country’s broader strategy to boost tourism and create economic opportunities from the cruise sector.
