GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Recent incidents of antisemitic behavior among members have led the University of Florida to deactivate the campus College Republicans as a registered student group. This represents the second action in Florida this month against a Republican organization due to accusations of involvement in racist or antisemitic actions. Earlier, Florida International University also launched an investigation into a group chat linked to a Republican Party official, which contained violently racist slurs and antisemitic comments. University officials stated that the Florida Federation of College Republicans made the decision to disband the Gainesville chapter after identifying a 'pattern of conduct' violating its values. They indicated that the university would assist the Florida Federation in reactivating the chapter when new student leadership is established.
