A tragic explosion in Moscow has left three people dead, including two traffic police officers, as confirmed by Russian authorities.
The incident occurred when the officers confronted a 'suspicious individual' on Yeletskaya Street, leading to a detonation of an explosive device. Reports suggest the third fatality was the suspect, though this has yet to be officially verified.
This explosion follows closely on the heels of another attack where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bombing, raising concerns over safety and security in the capital.
Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, announced that they are pursuing a criminal case concerning the attack on the police officers.
The names of the deceased officers have been reported as Ilya Klimanov, 24, and Maxim Gorbunov, 25. Ukrainian military intelligence agency sources indicate that the officers previously participated in hostilities against Ukraine, prompting speculation about the motivations behind the attack.
In the aftermath, two additional individuals were reported hospitalized with serious injuries.
Local residents described hearing a loud explosion, and while Russia has pointed fingers at Ukraine for this recent violence, Ukraine has not claimed responsibility.
This incident adds to a troubling trend of violence aimed at military officials in Moscow, marking the third such attack within the past year.
