Three people, who were detained in connection with a suspected arson that killed four residents in Waterford, have been released, Gardaí confirmed on Thursday.
The blaze, which engulfed the Birch Avenue home of Philip and Kim English and their children, nine‑year‑old Jayden and 12‑year‑old Callum, occurred in early February on the outskirts of Waterford, leaving the family dead.
Earlier this week, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s were charged in relation to the attack. On Saturday, gardaí noted that the most recent arrests—two women in their 30s and a man in his 50s—were freed without charges. A fourth suspect, a man in his 20s arrested on Thursday, remains in custody as investigations continue.
The case has shocked the Waterford community, with flowers and tributes left outside the fenced and boarded‑up property. Police are yet to confirm motives, and the legal process for the remaining suspect is pending.
