SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a mission to deliver the Crew‑13 spacecraft to the International Space Station.
The crew comprises two NASA astronauts, a Russian cosmonaut, and a Canadian astronaut whose wife is expecting their third child. The couple will become the fourth space‑traveling family to have a child born while one parent is off‑world, according to CBS News.
Originally slated for mid‑September, the launch was postponed to replace a valve in the Crew Dragon propulsion system.
Scientists expect the trip to last about 7 hours and 50 minutes. Once docked at the ISS, the crew will run experiments that pave the way for future missions to the Moon and Mars.
