Prime Minister Donald Tusk warns Poland faces “critical” months amid Russia’s potential provocation, urging heightened defense readiness.

Tusk highlighted that Russia may test NATO’s resolve through armed provocations and warned of possible missile or drone strikes on Polish infrastructure. US intelligence suggests this could be part of a broader strategy to pressure Ukraine’s allies. Polish and Lithuanian forces recently conducted joint exercises, underscoring regional readiness. The Prime Minister stressed that NATO’s Article 5 binds all allies to defend one another. The upcoming NATO summit in Turkey will focus on defense spending and continued support for Ukraine.

Deputy Prime Minister Radek Sikorski said that Russia could use a “false flag” operation within the next two years to justify an attack on a NATO member.

Polish and Lithuanian forces carried out a joint exercise late June, demonstrating readiness against possible missile or drone strikes on Polish infrastructure.

The US government reportedly issued several warnings to Warsaw about a plot to attack the country, but the White House and State Department declined to comment.

Poland’s president will attend a NATO summit in Turkey next week, where leaders will discuss Europe’s defense spending and continue to support Ukraine with weaponry.
