People flee as building collapses on Caracas outskirts
The Venezuelan capital of Caracas was struck by back‑to‑back earthquakes that erupted on June 24. The seismic episode left at least 160 people dead and caused widespread damage in the city and its suburbs.
In the El Junquito district, a 7‑storey building rapidly collapsed, forcing residents to flee amidst the rubble. Video footage captured by a local content creator showed the building tumbling, with people scrambling to escape and emergency responses battling the aftermath.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has confirmed the death toll and urged the international community to provide rapid humanitarian assistance. She announced that emergency services are still working around the clock to rescue trapped residents and to monitor structural safety in the affected neighborhoods.
